Webinar: Demystifying Development Banks in Asia

Sep 27, 2017

On September 26, 2017, the Coalition for Human Rights in Development co-hosted a ‘Demystifying Development Banks’ webinar with a special focus on Asia, where many countries have been shown to be among the most dangerous for human rights and environmental defenders who confront infrastructure, energy, and agricultural development projects that fail to consult communities or respect their rights.

Presenters included the International Accountability Project, NGO Forum on ADB and Oyu Tolgoi Watch, with commentary from Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact, as well as FORUM ASIA. Designed for defenders and bank watcher groups in Asia, the webinar provides practical strategies for safeguarding defenders in development contexts and how development banks operate in Asia.

You can view the webinar on the Coalition’s YouTube page and download the slides here. For more information on our Defenders in Development Campaign, including other Demystifying Development webinars, visit rightsindevelopment.org/HRD.
