Dans le m\u00eame temps, comme indiqu\u00e9 dans la section ci-dessous, la r\u00e9ponse des gouvernements et des acteurs \u00e9conomiques au changement climatique fait peser de nouveaux risques syst\u00e9miques, en particulier dans les pays du Sud, et exacerbe les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s structurelles (telles que celles caus\u00e9es par la richesse, l&rsquo;\u00e2ge, la race et le sexe).<\/p>\n<p>La crise climatique n&rsquo;est pas seulement une question environnementale, mais aussi sociale, \u00e9conomique et politique. Le changement climatique a un impact disproportionn\u00e9 sur les communaut\u00e9s locales en situation de marginalisation, en particulier dans les pays du Sud, qui sont les moins responsables du probl\u00e8me. They are positioning themselves as climate leaders and claiming to advance a \"just energy transition\", but evidence from the ground and the stories of communities impacted by their activities show that their<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0approach is reproducing power asymmetries, deepening the extractivist model, failing to address the root causes of the climate crisis, creating sacrifice zones and leading to socio-environmental conflicts.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Some key issues include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>False solutions<\/strong>: governing and business elites are advancing false solutions (such as green hydrogen, waste to energy, and large scale renewables such as mega-dams), that are presented as green projects but are leading to harmful environmental and social impacts. False solutions often rely on technical and market-based projects and policies, neglecting community-led and equitable approaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Ongoing \"dirty\" fossil fuel projects<\/strong>: development banks are failing to decisively phase out their support for fossil fuel-dependent infrastructures.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Impacts of Mining<\/b>: There is an increased global competition over so-called \u201ccritical minerals\u201d, such as lithium or cobalt. Involved actors are getting more aggressive in this field, and communities are having to face challenges over exploitation of natural resources that do not bring benefit for them.<\/li><li><b>Land and resource grabbing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The closing off of large tracts of land for conservation, mega renewable projects,\u00a0 or carbon credits is a source of displacement, dispossession, and violence. Indigenous communities, who live in territories rich in natural resources, are particularly affected.<\/span><\/li><li><strong>Sacrifice zones<\/strong>: energy and climate projects are <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reducing the Global South and Indigenous territories to sacrifice zones for overconsumption in the Global North.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><b>Bypassing Participation<\/b>: to prioritize some aspects (quantum, efficiency and speed of investments in climate finance), financiers are bypassing consultations and meaningful engagement processes.<\/li><li><strong>Risks for defenders<\/strong>: The urgency and approach around climate finance is increasing risks for environmental defenders, as there are high interests at stake and projects are being pushed forward without adequate consultations.<\/li><li><b>Commodification<\/b> and <b>financialisation<\/b> of natural resources: by favoring private sector interests and economic growth, development banks are contributing to the commodification of ecosystems.<\/li><li><strong>Debt<\/strong>: Development banks loans, often carrying relatively high-interest rates, burden countries vulnerable to climate change by exacerbating existing debt crises.
