The International Platform against Impunity (PII) is an alliance of civil society organizations from the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Central America that supports and promotes advocacy processes for the full enjoyment of human rights in Central America, with special emphasis on Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The Platform actively observes the situation of human rights in these countries by monitoring the advocacy processes implemented.
Mission
The International Platform against Impunity supports and promotes advocacy processes for the full enjoyment of human rights in Central America, with special emphasis on Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The Platform actively observes the situation of human rights in both countries, through the monitoring of the advocacy processes implemented, and with three priorities:
• Protection of human rights defenders, men and women
• Support and promotion of initiatives aimed at strengthening the independence of the judiciary
• Support national and international processes in defense and protection of the rights of indigenous peoples at risk against corporate interests
Our work in development finance
Investigation of investment of development banks in extractive projects that violate human rights, advocacy support for denunciation at the national level (embassies and international NGOs) and international (support networks, rapporteurs of the IAHRS and United Nations system, etc.). The objective would be to implement a Central American observatory of IFIs, make a periodic report on the impacts of IFIS investments, particularly on women and indigenous peoples, strengthen reporting capacity, improve the transparency of IFIs, its grievance mechanisms and the protection of human rights defenders.
