African CSO’s urge AfDB to strengthen civil society engagement

Fourty-eight African civil society organizations sent a letter to the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) last week calling for more space for civil society engagement and a reform of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Forum. The groups expressed concern over shortcomings in the design and implementation of the CSO Forum, held in conjunction with the AfDB’s annual meetings, and issued recommendations to incorporate greater CSO autonomy, visibility, and participation. The next CSO Forum will take place May 23rd to 27th in Lusaka, Zambia. Read the full letter here.
