Indigenous Women Legal Awareness Group (INWOLAG)

They address discrimination and violence against Indigenous women. They raise legal awareness within Indigenous communities and provide legal support to Indigenous women. The group also engages in advocacy for Indigenous women’s rights, including the right to effectively participate in decision making about their environment.

INWOLAG’s mission is to foster an egalitarian and inclusive society where all Indigenous Peoples (and especially Indigenous women) can live free from discrimination, inequality, and violence, ensuring that their identities, knowledge system, and ways of life are respected.

Our work in development finance

INWOLAG is actively engaged with the accountability mechanisms of both the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) as part of the efforts to support the community affected by the hydro projects financially supported by these institutions. INWOLAG's role has been to facilitate the meetings with the accountability mechanisms and staff from these financial institutions and to build the capacity of the community to advance their rights.
