Misplaced trust: new report out

Public development banks are putting human rights defenders at serious risk by relying on their clients to address reprisals.

They keep ignoring a key fact: in most cases of reprisals in the context of development projects, banks’ clients play a direct role in the perpetration of attacks.

New Story: Refugees of Development

In 1999 residents of Hade, Kosovo were forced from their homes by Serbian commandos.They were able to return some time later and have been working tirelessly since then to rebuild their village and return to normal life. Now, they are being threatened to leave again, but this time the threat is coming from a World Bank-supported coal power plant project headed by their government.
