The Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC) is the world’s definitive source of data and analysis on internal displacement. Since its establishment in 1998 as part of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), it has offered a rigorous, independent, and trusted service to the international community. IDMC’s work informs policy and operational decisions that improve the lives of the millions of people living in internal displacement or at risk of becoming displaced in the future.
Mission
IDMC is the leading source of information and analysis on internal displacement. By providing data and evidence on internal displacement, It aims to keep the issue and the plight of internally displaced people high on the global agenda.
Our work in development finance
Since 2015, IDMC has published a report on displacement caused by development projects in India, held an expert round-table on displacement caused by development projects.
It has designed and conducted the first and the second phase of its monitoring of displacement caused by development projects and issued a policy brief on how implementation of the SDGs can undermine achievement of the 2030 agenda on sustainable development.
