As we celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we stand in solidarity with indigenous peoples all around the world fighting for a fair, just and sustainable future. In many cases these indigenous human rights defenders are under attack – subjected to threats, criminalization and violence. It is time for governments, development finance institutions, and other development actors to work with indigenous peoples, ensuring that development interventions advance the human rights of all, leaving no one behind.
