The Centro de Derechos Económicos y Sociales – CDES (Center for Economic and Social Rights, in English) is an organization that defends the living, material, and environmental conditions associated with the exercise of Human Rights. Since its constitution in 1997, it has accompanied processes of rights reinforcement in the strengthening of environmental justice and economic justice in Latin America. It bases its contents on the social, legal, and economic sciences and participatory action research.

Strengthen the connections between human rights, poverty and the environment. Its mission is oriented to fight for social and environmental justice through the recognition and promotion of economic, social and cultural rights in Latin America.

Our work in development finance

CDES works at the national and continental levels with indigenous organizations, social movements and NGOs to confront the impacts of external debt, structural adjustment policies and the intervention of international financial institutions.
