Practical Guide to Community-Based Security for Women Defenders of Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (2024)

Guide to community-based security for women defendersProDESC’s Practical Guide to Community Security for Women Human Rights Defenders is designed to strengthen the security of women working at the community level, taking into account their diverse identities and the machista, racist and class-based violence they face. The guide offers a practical and innovative framework for women defenders to develop effective security plans tailored to their contexts. Using the story of a women’s association in an extractive project as an example, it illustrates the steps proposed, providing concrete tools to improve their security conditions.

This document is the result of years of collaborative work and is dedicated to women defenders who continue to fight for justice and equity, despite the challenges. In addition, ProDESC is committed to updating the guide to include the experiences of other gender identities and intersectionalities, seeking greater inclusivity.
